Cairo, July 2019 In efforts to empower the major organizations that support and develop the Egyptian industry and exports, a TOT certified program was organized by “Egypt Exports through Product Innovation” – a project funded by the European Union- for the Engineering Export Council of Egypt in the Netherlands. A walk-through the best practices of the European engineering industry One of the program’s highlights was a factory visit to one of the biggest manufacturers of food processing equipment in the Netherlands “Kiremko”. EEC held an in-depth dialogue with Eng. Marcel van Huisstenden – Kiremko’s Deputy Director to better understand the Engineering industry in Europe, Kiremko’s projects in Egypt and discuss the opportunities of setting up partnerships with Egyptian exporters. Launch of EEPI Project The European Union enabling Egyptian Products towards Europe Cairo, 10th of December 2018 The European Union (EU) supports utilizing innovation as a major driver of competitiveness, to enable Egyptian Industrial companies to be better positioned to reach export markets through funding the Engineering Export Council of Egypt that has taken the initiative to qualify Engineering companies to export to the European market through the project: “Enabling Egyptian Exports through Technology Transfer Driven Product Innovation” (EEPI) project. The EU has allocated a grant of 950 thousand Euros for this project that is implemented over a period of 18 months. The EU- funded EEPI project will help Egyptian companies through their export journey to Europe by fostering their capacity to innovate in their products to meet European markets requirements. To achieve this aim, the project will assess the European market needs, and identify concrete export opportunities for Egyptian products. Companies will then be supported in developing innovative business and product concepts, and commercializing these products in the EU market through business matchmaking with European partners. To ensure that the desired impact is realized, the project brings together experts from diverse entities, best positioned to deliver the needed support. The Engineering Export Council of Egypt (EEC) with their knowledge of the Engineering Industry and long term experience in export development programs will collaborate with Innovety LLC – an Egyptian leading innovation consulting company, the Italian Consortium ARCA who are experts in the areas of technology transfer and business innovation, and Globally Cool from the Netherlands – a company specialized in sustainable international trade development. The EU- funded EEPI project will be launched on Monday the 10th of December 2018 through a conference held in Conrad Hotel – Corniche El Nile, under the auspices of H.E. the Minister of Trade and Industry and the EU Ambassador to Egypt, where a large representation of the industrial community, local and international partners are expected to attend.
