Cairo, July 2019

In efforts to empower the major organizations that support and develop the Egyptian industry and exports, a TOT certified program was organized by “Egypt Exports through Product Innovation” – a project funded by the European Union- for the Engineering Export Council of Egypt in the Netherlands.

The program was delivered by “Globally Cool” a Dutch innovative consultancy that has trained thousands of professionals around the world in the fields of Market Research, International Marketing and Trade Promotion.

During the program, EEC team were able to:

  • Use a 360* approach to analyze markets and products.
  • Use different methodologies to identify competitors, potential markets and opportunities.

All of this will in turn be used to better assess international markets and export opportunities for the Egyptian manufacturers.

A walk-through the best practices of the European engineering industry

One of the program’s highlights was a factory visit to one of the biggest manufacturers of food processing equipment in the Netherlands “Kiremko”. EEC held an in-depth dialogue with Eng. Marcel van Huisstenden – Kiremko’s Deputy Director to better understand the Engineering industry in Europe, Kiremko’s projects in Egypt and discuss the opportunities of setting up partnerships with Egyptian exporters. First, Eng. Marcel shed light on the importance of having a SMART industry, which relies on using the latest technologies and innovation in his field. He also explained the importance of having a full view of the market and how market studies and field research play a major role in that.

It was evident that there are some excellent business opportunities for Egyptian businesses when Eng. Marcel mentioned that:

– 65% of his business is outsourced through business partners

– 50% of the components comes from external suppliers

The meeting concluded fruitfully by arranging to introduce Mr. Marcel to some Egyptian manufacturers on the occasion of the Council’s upcoming international marketing activities, such as Gulfood Exhibition in the UAE in October, and Interpack Exhibition in Egypt in December 2019.
